DURANT — John Hendricks ran for a pair of touchdowns, and Durant overcame a shaky first half to defeat the Oak Ridge (Orlando) Pioneers 42-27 on Friday.
Oak Ridge got off to a quick start as quarterback Jerrell Antoine hit Nyqwan Murray for a 60-yard touchdown just three minutes in. Following a muffed punt early in the second quarter by Durant, Oak Ridge capitalized immediately with a 28-yard connection from Antoine to Murray to extend its lead to 14-0.
After Hendricks' first touchdown cut the Oak Ridge lead in half, DeAngelo Antoine returned a Trey VandeGrift pass 58 yards for a touchdown to give the Pioneers a 21-7 lead. With just 36 seconds left in the second quarter, however, Hendricks scored on a draw play from 41 yards out.
In the second half, Durant's offense came alive, scoring 28 unanswered against the second-string defense.
