TAMPA — For Hillsborough coach Earl Garcia, his team accomplished two main goals: Lay down points and leave with no injuries. The Terriers did both, beating East Bay 41-0.

Key drive: From the opening drive the Terriers had a handle on East Bay. On the first play, sophomore quarterback Tyler Thomas hit wide receiver Nate Dantley Jr. for what should've been a 10-yard pickup that the senior took 76 yards for a score. … The Terriers had 34 more unanswered points with backup quarterback Caleb Youngblood getting the final score on a 10-yard run with 11:17 left.

Stars of the game: Running backs Duran Bell and Drequan McCullough each scored, combining for 133 yards. McCullough scored early in the second quarter on a 60-yard dash up the right sideline. He later scored on an 8-yard run on the Terriers' first drive of the second half. Bell caught a 12-yard screen from Thomas.

Stats of the game: The Terrier defense forced four turnovers and held the Indians to 127 yards. The stout defensive effort was capped by a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown off of East Bay's Tanner Morris … Youngblood finished with 53 yards and a score on five carries.

Final word: "We left 14 points on the field and had our typical early-season mistakes, but we didn't turn the ball over. A lot more good than bad and our defense is going to be good this year." — Garcia
