LAND O'LAKES — Lakewood scored all of its points off of a kick return, interception return and a safety, holding Sunlake to one first down in the second half of a preseason classic Friday night. The Spartans got an 87-yard kickoff returned from Troyvon Johnson and a 42-yard interception return from Armani Adams.
Key plays: Sunlake got a 1-yard touchdown run by Adam Jarvis, and a 13-yard touchdown reception from Ryan Kasper to Jeremiah Baker. Lakewood regained the lead off of Johnson's return, then for good on Adams' return. Sunlake had two chances to score in the fourth quarter but couldn't get a first down.
Key drive: In the second quarter, Sunlake was leading 14-7 with the ball on its own 38-yard line. Kasper's pass was tipped twice before being corralled by Adams, who broke left and had a convoy to the end zone. After an offsides penalty, the Spartans took the lead on a two-point conversion run by Louis Cotto. That lead stood.
Stars of the game: Lakewood's defense held Sunlake to one first down in the second half (off a penalty). … Jarvis had a touchdown, two-point conversion, fumble recovery, forced fumble and an interception for Sunlake. … Cornell Battles led all rushers with 12 carries for 84 yards for Lakewood.
