Spring game-breakers: Wharton's Miles Williams was the bell cow, toting the ball 20 times in a half of work for 122 yards and a pair of scores. The rising senior had touchdown runs of 5 and 2 yards, and also caught one pass for 9 more. …Wharton quarterback Bryce Martin was sharp, completing 6-of-10 passes for 65 yards. He also ran the ball three times for 20 yards. Martin's main target was Devontres Dukes, who caught three passes for 42 yards. …Wharton's defense held King to 22 yards in the half, and Will Dudley recorded a sack. …King's lone points came from Caio Martao, who connected on a 36-yard field goal to give the Lions an early 3-0 lead. …Hillsborough vs. Freedom had all the feeling of a spring game. The teams combined for 17 penalties in the half, with the Terriers accounting for 10. …Hillsborough's Duran Bell Jr. made the most of his seven carries, finishing the night with 129 yards and two TDs. Bell had a run of 40 yards on the Terriers' first play from scrimmage and added a 53-yard TD. Hillsborough quarterback Lawrence Dawsey went 5-of-6 for 44 yards, with 31 of those going to tight end Zach Carter. …Defensive lineman Bryce Colee accounted for the Patriots' lone score when he took a fumble recovery back 28 yards for a TD. The rising junior also added another fumble recovery later in the half. …Roshawn Mungin had a 76-yard interception return for a TD called back on an illegal block. …Freedom quarterback Nasir Core completed 6-of-10 for 48 yards to five receivers.

Did you know? Shannon King made his Wharton debut in style. The rising sophomore, who didn't play last season, took his only carry 21 yards for a touchdown. King ran off left end, spun through a tackle and shook off three more defenders before reaching the end zone.
