Spring game-breakers: The Lions' two standouts were Dakota D'Ambrosio and Nate Kautsky, according to first-year coach Mike D'Ambrosio. Dakota had a strong running game and a kickoff returned 65 yards. Kautsky had more than 15 tackles and three sacks. … HCA had the ball inside Orangewood Christian's red zone four times — twice inside the 10. But penalties prevented the Lions from getting into the end zone. … Orangewood Christian was sparked by an interception, which Mike D'Ambrosio said changed the complexion of the game. … Also making an impact was lineman Ben Dzugen, who blocked well and had multiple tackles.

Did you know? HCA will use multiple quarterbacks for different packages though the 28-man roster forced many players to play both ways. Conner Yann runs most of the formations, but Donnie Wainscott runs the triple option. Wainscott sprained his knee in the third quarter and left the game. The Lions threw three interceptions.

Audible: "The spring has gone really good. We played a team not in the same classification (Saturday). We'll stack up fine in our division. … We have to work on our passing game a lot. We're missing wide-open receivers. We've got kids running wide open, and we're throwing into double coverage."
