Spring game-breakers: Pinellas Park fullback Kal-el Williams is going to be tough to deal with during the fall. Williams, 6 feet, 240 pounds, gained 34 yards on seven carries over three quarters of action. His most impressive run was a fourth-and-11 burst straight up the middle for a touchdown during the second quarter. In fact, the Patriots' running attack looks to be in good shape overall. Donte Maxson has speed to burn. He gained 74 yards on three carries, including a 50-yard touchdown during the fourth quarter on which he ran untouched around the left side. … Oscee Calhoun was another back who impressed. He gained 52 yards on seven carries and saw two long runs called back for holding. … Pinellas Park senior quarterback Mitch Grondin is undersized at 5 feet 9, but don't be fooled, He can throw. Grondin was 5-of-7 for 132 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown in the third quarter to Marcellus Ware. The Patriots don't usually throw out of the wing-T, but Grondin gives them an option. Patriots coach Kenny Crawford said he also was impressed with sophomore defensive lineman/tight end Marquis Bell, who scored on a 47-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter and intercepted a pass in the end zone during the fourth quarter.

Did you know? The first quarter was played with mostly second-stringers and junior varsity players for both teams. … Orlando Evans was 1-9 last season and lost one game 75-0.

Audible 1: "That's what I do. I run straight, break tackles and score. If I get into the secondary, there isn't a DB in the county who can tackle me." — Williams

Audible 2: "It's a real easy system to run. If coach tells me to pass, I'm going to put it in there. We're going to pound the rock and use play-action here and there and score touchdowns." — Grondin
