Spring football: Seminole 16, Dunedin 16

at Seminole

Seminole 16, Dunedin 16

Spring game-breakers: The Warhawks started strong, building a 10-0 halftime lead. … Seminole quarterback Aaron Dever was 4-of-5 for 58 yards on the opening drive, including a 17-yard touchdown to Matthew Wonsick. … Dever finished 9-of-19 for 135 yards. … The Warhawks' other score in the first half came on a 32-yard field goal by Tanner Vaughn. … Seminole running back Travis Wateska had 94 yards rushing and scored on a 30-yard run in the second half. … Adarius Sims and Tyler Palermiti split time at quarterback for Dunedin. … Sims recovered a fumble midway through the third quarter that the Falcons converted into points when Dustin Rapp hit a 21-yard field goal to make it 10-3. … Dunedin running back Jordan Williams was the catalyst for the comeback, scoring on a 26-yard pass from Palermiti and returning a punt 57 yards for a touchdown to tie the score with 1:34 remaining in the game. He also had an interception on Seminole's final drive that ended the game after the Warhawks had driven to the Falcons' 36-yard line.

Did you know? Dunedin dressed just 25 players, with most going both ways. Several players were suffering from cramps in the second half. In fact, Falcons coach Matt LePain said he wanted to go for two points on the final touchdown to win the game, but he didn't think he would have enough offensive players to put on the field. … The teams will meet again the second week of the 2014 regular season.

Audible 1: "I cannot believe the way these kids fought through cramps and found a way to win. The momentum we had at the end was a huge boost." — Dunedin coach Matt LePain

Audible 2: "We played a great game until the last four minutes. It was a tie, but it felt like loss because we should have won. We just made too many mistakes and didn't finish." — Seminole coach Chris Miller
