OCALA — Devean Huff ran for 147 yards to lead Springstead past Ocala West Port 26-0 on Friday.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Eagles (4-4, 2-1 4A-5) capped a 66-yard drive with Tim Furchak's 16-yard run. Brian Beeker faked a handoff to Huff, who gained three first downs on the drive. Cody Jones made field goals of 34 and 38 yards for a 13-0 halftime lead.
Scott Barron had two interceptions for Springstead, returning the second 23 yards for a touchdown. Beeker's 5-yard pass to Taylor Minter accounted for the other touchdown.
Springstead preserved the shutout late by stopping West Port (2-6, 1-2) on four consecutive plays after it had it first and goal.
"I know West Port's on some tough times right now," Springstead coach Bill Vonada said. "But they're headed in the right direction. We've been there, too."
