St. Petersburg Catholic 40, Steinbrenner 10

LUTZ — St. Petersburg Catholic relied on its defense to put the first points on the board in each half en route to a district victory.

"We were banged up and missing some kids," Barons coach Tod Creneti said. "We had to have some other guys prove they could make plays."

After the Barons went three and out on their opening possession, Julian Smith intercepted a Warriors pass and returned it 47 yards for the first score. Steinbrenner quickly came back and tied it when Christian Carriere hit Tobi Antigha for an 18-yard touchdown.

After that it was all Barons as their offense spread the wealth among eight runners and four receivers.

The SPC defense scored another touchdown to open the second half when Evan Holmes intercepted a pass and returned it 21 yards in the third quarter.
