Tampa Catholic 24, Mulberry 13

TAMPA — District games are always fiercely played, but Mulberry and Tampa Catholic took it to another level as both entered undefeated in Class 2A, District 5.

The Crusaders got enough offense to beat the Panthers for the fourth straight time and for the second straight time the rivals refused to shake hands afterward.

Tampa Catholic (5-2, 3-0) scored 21 unanswered points after trailing 7-3. The Crusaders took a 10-7 lead right before the half on a 47-yard pitch and catch from Christian Green to Conner Louis.

Henry McCloud extended the lead on a 67-yard burst down the left sideline. Tampa Catholic put the game out of reach when Jordan Jones had a fingertip grab on an 11-yard fade pass from Green.

Green finished 12-for-21 for 175 yards and the two scores. McCloud finished with 17 carries for 94 yards with 72 coming in the second half.
