FSU Seminoles

Jimbo Fisher vs. Dabo Swinney (again) and more college football nuggets

It's all about the coaches when Clemson's Dabo Swinney and former FSU coach Jimbo Fisher meet for the ninth time:

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney

Head-to-head wins: 4

National titles: 1

BCS/College Football Playoff appearances: 3

Conference titles: 4

Winning percentage: .773 (102-30)

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher

Head-to-head wins: 4

National titles: 1

BCS/College Football Playoff appearances: 2

Conference titles: 3

Winning percentage: .785 (84-23)

Eye on the NFL draft

South Carolina WR Deebo Samuel said he didn't know who Georgia DB Deandre Baker was. Weird, because NFL scouts should know plenty about the two potential first-round picks who could go head to head.

Upset watch?

Maybe not when the Gamecocks host Georgia. Will Muschamp is 1-5 against his alma mater (including 1-3 at UF). His two losses for South Carolina have both been by two scores. This one might be, too.

Locals of the week
Three Plant High defensive products could have big impacts in the state: Georgia Tech starting NT Kyle Cerge-Henderson, USF CB Mazzi Wilkins and Kentucky DB Derrick Baity. South Tampa will be watching.

Keystone Classic

The biggest thing to watch when Pitt hosts No. 13 Penn State is the Panthers' run game. Pitt is 13-3 under coach Pat Narduzzi when rushing for at least 200 yards (including a 42-39 win over the Nittany Lions two years ago). Penn State gave up 4.3 yards per carry last week against Appalachian State (No. 85 nationally).

Looking for Love

Stanford RB Bryce Love was quiet in the opener (29 yards on 18 carries). Expect more from the All-American this week. If USC can surrender 308 rushing yards to UNLV, Love should be in for a monster performance in the top-20 showdown.
