Manning's record night spurs Giants
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Larry Donnell's spectacular catch over two 49ers with 21 seconds remaining lifted the Giants and capped quarterback Eli Manning's record-setting clutch performance.
Manning had a career-best 41 completions — a franchise record — and his perfect throw to Donnell finished off an 82-yard drive with a 12-yard touchdown, in which Donnell leaped for the grab and controlled the ball partly by pressing it to his helmet.
Phil Simms had the Giants record with 40 completions against the Bengals in a loss on Oct. 13, 1985.
Manning set another franchise record with 102 victories.
New York has won three straight and leads the NFC East. San Francisco has lost four in a row.
Running back Carlos Hyde's 2-yard run with 1:45 left gave the 49ers the lead.
