The Giants’ Joe Panik beats the throw to Justin Wilson to score on a passed ball.

SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants got an assist from a Pirates baserunning blunder to end a six-game skid, 7-5 Wednesday.

The Pirates led 5-4 and had runners on second and third in the sixth when Chris Stewart drew a one-out walk. Jean Machi got the ball back from the catcher and noticed Travis Snider had left second.

Machi threw to shortstop Brandon Crawford to get Snider in a rundown. With Snider heading to third, Gaby Sanchez headed home. Crawford tagged Snider quick enough to get Sanchez in a rundown and end the inning.

"It was 100 percent mental error on my part," said Snider, who added he thought the bases were loaded.

Said Giants manager Bruce Bochy: "You don't see that very often. We got a break there."
