LARGO — Clearwater Central Catholic has been playing its best golf over the past three weeks and that didn't change at Monday's Class A, District 14 tournament. The Marauders shot 305 at the Bayou Club to win the boys tournament by 25 shots over second-place Calvary Christian. Admiral Farragut earned third with 345. The top three teams advance to Monday's region tournament at Carrollwood Country Club.

Also advancing are the top three individuals on teams that did not qualify for regionals. Those players are Kevin Kuni of St. Petersburg Catholic (79), Dalton Shettle of Canterbury (80) and eighth-grader Christian Marquardt of Indian Rocks Christian (81).

The Marauders had the top two lowest scores at the tournament. Davis Harrison and Thomas Salanito each shot 1-over 73. Hunter Lea shot 77 and Clark Lea had 83 to round out CCC's scoring.

"It's nice to have other players that we can rely on," Salanito said. "We're bonding right now and playing so good as a team. Clark, Davis, Hunter, we're all bonding and really shooting low numbers right now."

Calvary Christian also had some low scores to claim second place. Cal Stephens shot 74 to lead the Warriors. Justin Bench and Aaron Shahriari both shot 83. Admiral Farragut's low round was turned in by Robbie Vinson, who shot a 78.

On the girls side, Northside Christian was the only school with enough players to field a team. The Mustangs automatically qualified for next Wednesday's region tournament in Lakeland with a score of 470.

Indian Rocks Christian's Bianca Sol Cruz shot 77 to easily win the individual championship. Adrianna Linn of Shorecrest was second with 91. CCC's Michelle Dudenhoefer was third with 97. All three also advance to Wednesday's regional.

"I think the round should have been better," Sol Cruz said. "I think I made a few stupid moves. I thought maybe I could do something, but it turned out it was a little too daredevil."
