Hayden Curry has been rooting for the Lightning since his family moved to Tampa when he was 6.
Curry, 23, attends about five games a year and watches the rest on TV.
But not Friday.
Instead of watching the opening game of the Eastern Conference final against the Capitals, Curry had a more pressing engagement.
He was getting married to his sweetheart, Tiffany Echevarria.
Curry said his love for the Lightning has rubbed off on her. But that took a back seat to his other plans for Friday night.
"I’ve turned her into a big Bolts fan," he said before the big day. "But she won’t go for that (Friday)."
There weren’t any TVs or radios blaring the score at the Davis Islands Garden Club, where the two wed. But Curry said he had a backup plan involving his best man, Marc Nemcik, 23, of Brooklyn, N.Y.
"I gave him the assignment of keeping me up to date on scores," Curry said. "He’ll be checking the phone and letting me know what happens."
Though he wasn’t watching, Curry said he would still be showing his devotion to the team.
"I’m wearing a Stamkos jersey under my tux," he said.
