Lightning's 2007 draft picks

Player (skaters), Rd./No., Pos., Age, Games, goals, Assists, Points, PIM

Dana Tyrell, 2/47, F, 19, 68, 25, 40, 65, 47

Played for WHL Prince George (juniors) before playing 11 games with AHL Norfolk with a goal and six points; head scout Jake Goertzen said the speedy skater has a chance to eventually play on the top two lines.

Luca Cunti, 3/75, F, 18, 34, 11, 21, 32, 37

Trouble with the NCAA clearinghouse kept him from playing in college but did well with USHL Chicago (juniors); difficult to evaluate given the tumult; Swiss native is expected back in North America next season.

Alex Killorn, 3/77, C, 18, 28, 27, 55, 82, NA

Highly skilled and a terrific skater; starred last season at Deerfield (Mass.) Academy and is headed for Harvard.

Mitch Fadden, 4/107, C, 20, 72, 34, 55, 89, 72

Did so well last season for WHL Lethbridge, the Lightning is making a strong effort to get him signed.

Matt Marshall, 5/150, F, 19, 29, 25, 26, 51, NA

Headed for Vermont after a stellar career at Dedham (Mass.) Nobles High; Goertzen said he is probably the best skater in this class; already 6 feet 1, 185 pounds and has room to grow.

Johan Harju, 6/167, LW, 22, 51, 20, 8, 28, 55

Took a step up in goals and penalty minutes playing in his native Sweden; Lightning wants him in North America, but without a European transfer agreement, it is impossible because he is under contract.

Michael Ward, 7/197, D, 18, 70, 4, 16, 20, 91

Scrappy 6-foot-3, 196-pounder upped his points by 13 and penalty minutes by 52 for QMJHL Lewiston (juniors).

Justin Courtnall, 7/210, LW, 19, 60, 19, 32, 51, 88

Increased his goals by 14 from 2006-07 and points by 37 for Victoria of the British Columbia Hockey League (juniors).

Player (goalie), Rd./No., Age, Games, Wins, Loses, OT, GAA, Save %

Torrie Jung, 6/183, 19, 33, 13, 12, 5, 2.80, .891

Had an up-and down-year for WHL Kelowna; Goertzen said he has the skills but consistency is a problem.
