Amid all the craziness in Saturday's NHL draft lottery, the Lightning got the pick it was supposed to, 14th overall.

The rest was full of surprises in the drawings to determine the order for the first 15 picks involving all the non-playoff teams and expansion Vegas.

The Devils won the lottery and will pick No. 1, despite having just an 8.5 percent chance to get the top pick. The Flyers, who missed the playoffs by seven points, jumped to No. 2 and the Stars to No. 3.

The Avalanche, the worst team in the league by more than 20 points, will pick fourth. Vancouver, which finished next to last, will pick fifth and Vegas sixth.

The draft is June 23-24 in Chicago.
