Lightning, USF bring hockey and dance together

Hockey and dance may seem like an unlikely match, but a new Tampa Bay Lightning pregame entertainment experience features just that.

Through a partnership with the University of South Florida School of Dance and Theatre, fans can now view a dance performed inside a glass-enclosed room as they enter the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

The concept behind the piece, an interpretation of hockey movements through dance, is to portray high-energy sequences showcasing athleticism.

The dance routine will be performed several times during the hour before Thursday's home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Lightning information and game times can be found at lightning.nhl.com or the USF Theatre and Dance website at theatreanddance.arts.usf.edu.
