Tampa Bay Lightning's Marc-Andre Bergeron clears waivers

Recently signed defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron has cleared waivers and will be sent to AHL Norfolk.

Bergeron, a power-play specialist, was signed by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday and placed on waivers at noon Wednesday. The Lightning wants Bergeron, coming off summer surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee, to play a "substantial" number of games for AHL Norfolk before being called to the NHL.

Bergeron signed a one-year, two-way contract believed to be for $1 million if he plays in the NHL and $105,000 if he is in the minors.
