    BRADENTON — Gaither senior Carter Palasti struggled a bit earlier this season with a nagging leg injury and a nagging search to find the right vaulting pole.

    BRADENTON - Before a packed stadium at IMG Academy, Hillsborough sophomore Alexis Woodall cleanly clears a hurdle midway through the Class 3A 100-meter hurdle finals during the state track on Saturday. Woodall finished fourth in the event in 14.99 seconds. Gaither senior Alessa Sandusky, running several lanes from Woodall, won the event in 14.55 seconds. Taken 5-6-17 by Scott Purks

    BRADENTON — Calvary Christian junior Morgan Brown was winning the Class A state pole vault, then right in the middle of it, she said she had to, "Check out."

    BRADENTON - Sitting atop the championship podium, Calvary Christian junior Morgan Brown grins for the cameras, holding her Class 1A first-place state meet gold medal not long after clearing 3.41 meters (11-feet, 2.25 inches) in the pole vault Friday afternoon.     CLEARWATER — It was appropriate that Hillsborough's girls and boys 4x400 meter relay squads ran away with substantial victories to wrap up Friday's Class 3A, Region 3 meet at Clearwater High. After all, the Terriers were sprinting away from the competition all day.
