When she isn't studying or volunteering, Avila resident Molly Fulmer is making her mark in martial arts.
Molly, 12, who holds a black belt in tae kwon do, a red belt in American karate, a gold medal from the 2005 Junior Olympics and an undefeated kick-boxing record, practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu and took a trip to Newark, N.J., last month for the North American Grappling Association World Championship.
The straight-A student came home with a first-place award, two second-place awards and a third-place award.
"She sets a good example for today's youth," said her father, Bobby Fulmer. "Her dream is to compete in the Olympics when she gets older."
