Win was needed 'in the worst way'
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Geno Smith bounced back after an early interception had memories of some recent mistakes creeping into his mind.
The rookie quarterback threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score as the Jets stopped a three-game skid.
"Man, we needed that in the worst way," New York coach Rex Ryan said, "to say the least."
Chris Ivory had a touchdown run, Nick Folk kicked three field goals and Antonio Allen blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown.
Smith was 16 of 25 for 219 yards and ran five times for 50 yards, overcoming his 20th interception.
"I can't sit here and say I'm not human. It is difficult," Smith said.
"Really embarrassing,'' Oakland safety Charles Woodson said. "We looked like the Bad News Bears out there."
