Marlins 2, D'backs 1

MIAMI — Henderson Alvarez pitched seven strong innings for the Marlins after missing two starts with right shoulder inflammation. Alvarez improved his home ERA to an NL-best 1.46 among qualifiers. The Diamondbacks made five errors, their most since recording six July 3, 2010, against the Dodgers. Miami scored the go-ahead run in the seventh when shortstop Cliff Pennington's throw home on a grounder went wide of catcher Miguel Montero.
