Nationals 3, Cardinals 1

WASHINGTON — A wild pitch and error on the same play helped the Nationals end an eight-game skid against the Cardinals dating to Game 5 of the 2012 division series. Tied at 1 in the seventh, Washington had the bases loaded. Michael Wacha's pitch got away, and catcher Yadier Molina's throw to get Ian Desmond went into the dugout, allowing another run to score. Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez retired the final 11 batters he faced.
