SEATTLE — Stephen Strasburg struck out eight in 72/3 innings and Jayson Werth hit a two-run homer for the Nationals. Anthony Rendon added an RBI double for Washington, which increased its NL East lead to seven games over the Braves. The Mariners lost for the fourth time in five games and fell 11/2 games off the pace for the American League's second wild card. Strasburg departed after allowing Dustin Ackley's eighth-inning homer.
