WASHINGTON — Gio Gonzalez allowed one hit in eight innings, and Danny Espinosa and former Tampa Catholic standout Denard Span drove in three each for the Nationals. Gonzalez, who allowed 12 runs in his previous nine innings, retired the first 11 before Joey Votto homered with two outs in the fourth. Washington took a 6-0 lead in the third against former Hernando High standout Bronson Arroyo. Bryce Harper led off with his eighth homer of the year, the most any National has hit in April.
