BALTIMORE — Kevin Gausman outpitched Cole Hamels as the Orioles rode a three-run first inning. Matt Wieters had two RBIs for the AL East-leading Orioles, whose 39-16 home record is the best in the majors. Gausman had won two of his 18 starts this season and was coming off an outing in which he allowed six runs over three innings at Toronto. Hamels yielded three runs in a rocky first inning then retired 13 of the next 14 batters without allowing a hit. Carlos Beltran homered in his second game with the Rangers since being obtained in a trade with the Yankees.
