Sailor's Wharf marks 30 years Serving Boaters

Sailor's Wharf Yacht Yard is having a 30th anniversary celebration April 5 beginning at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Activities start with a nautical flea market, which will include numerous marine items. The free seminars begin at 10 a.m., including one on anti-fouling bottom paints, and bow and stern thrusters. Sailor's Wharf is located at the end of Demen's Landing in downtown St. Petersburg.

Branch out, learn to climb a tree

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve in St. Petersburg will host a Pioneer Music Jamboree on Saturday, but there will be much more than music. There will be craft vendors, tractor-pulled hayrides, tree climbing instruction and tours of the oldest buildings in St. Petersburg. The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information, call (727) 893-7326.

Marine scientists open their doors

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute will hold its 14th annual MarineQuest on April 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event will feature more than 30 exhibits. Visitors can handle live animals in the touch tank, look through microscopes, create fish prints and talk with scientists. The institute is located at 100 Eighth Avenue SE in St. Petersburg. Last few days for spiny lobster

A reminder that spiny lobster season closes Tuesday and remains closed until Aug. 6. The only exception is the two-day sport season, which is July 30 and 31 this year. For complete regulations, check out www.myfwc.com.
