Inshore: Huge schools of black drum, some up to 50 pounds, were roaming the flats of the outer Clam Bar south of Pinellas Point. Spoons with a gold feather attached worked, as did a variety of jigs. Use 20-pound tackle and a 4-foot length of 50-pound fluorocarbon leader. During the full-moon phase, sheepshead fishing picked up. Work the rocky edges of the ships channel inside the Skyway Bridge with shrimp halves on No. 1 hooks.
Offshore: Some anglers have reported amberjack in the 70- to 90-foot depth range and the must-release grouper have pushed to shallower depths.
