Great weather: Warmer weather is in the forecast, so expect fishing action to pick up offshore. Two months of cold water temperatures have made things hard for anglers. But a few days of warmer weather won't be enough to get the fishes' blood going. We need 10 solid days of warm weather for that.
Bottom fishing: Grunts and sea bass are the targets for shorter trips in the gulf because we cannot keep grouper. Lots should be available. Lots of squid chunks on a double hook rig will result in action on the bottom.
Bigger fish: Farther offshore, experience the backbreaking pull of giant amberjacks. The presence of amberjacks has been impressive the past two weeks. The majority of big ones (40-plus pounds) are a good ways offshore, about 60 miles out.
