What's hot: Snook have been easy to target but on the small side. When the tide is ripping, the pups are loads of fun on light tackle. And when a big one strikes, it's a blast to tangle with. Spanish mackerel have been the go-to fish for rod-bending action. Live sardines are the hot bait. The smaller the bait, the better. While mackerel fishing, the occasional cobia has made an appearance along with some silver kings.
What's not hot: Targeting redfish along the north end of the bay has been tough. They have been hanging out around schools of mullet but been a hard sell. The clear water of last week had them spooked. Then rain muddied up the water and made them hard to locate.
