What's hot: Redfish fish are biting in the lower portion of the bay, gorging on small whitebaits and pinfish under a cork. Look for moving copper-colored clouds — a copper cloud is the school of fish. Get in front of them and send out some chummers to keep them in place.
Tips: Snapper have infested the middle bay with many in the 2-pound range. Almost any structure is holding them. Again, small baits work well and small shrimp is a great bait. To the north, scallop season is in full swing. We have been getting limits in about two or three hours. The best bet is to look deep; most of them are in 7 feet of water. If you're not finding much, move around until you hit the mother lode. It's a fun way to beat the heat with the family.
