What's hot: Sheepshead fishing is at its peak, and land-based anglers can get in on the action. Fish are bunched up under bridges near passes leading to the gulf. Shrimp works well for bait, but fiddler crabs are even better. Other productive baits include live barnacles or shucked oysters.
What else: Spotted seatrout are providing good action on artificials. One-eighth ounce jigs heads rigged with a root beer- or strawberry-colored tail usually produce.
