What's hot: Artificial reefs inside the bay are beginning to produce sheepshead, snapper, flounder and other species. Locate sections with the most relief for the best results. Anchoring can be critical in order to position the boat so baits can be presented in the strike zone.
Tackle: Knocker rigs work well for reef fishing. They provide an excellent feel to detect delicate bites. Use just enough weight to reach the bottom and light leaders combined with a hook size to match the bait size. Tail-hooked shrimp is best for drawing the attention of every species on the reef. Pinching the tail off the shrimp allows its scent to be slowly released, drawing the fish in.
