Two Locals Named to U.S. Sailing Team

Clearwater's Paige Railey and Tampa's Brad Kendall were among the 34 athletes named to the 2013 U.S. national team announced by U.S. Sailing on Wednesday. Railey, who represented the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics, sails Laser Radial, and Kendall joins Rick Doerr (Clifton, N.J.), and Hugh Freund (Brookline, Mass.) on a Sonar team.

St. Petersburg native Mark Mendelblatt and teammate Brian Fatih of Miami emerged as the overall winners at Miami Sailing Week last week, which featured five, one-design fleets. And Ramos is giving the Rays a pretty good glimpse of what that can be like.

  4. Marc Topkin's takeaways from Friday's Rays-Orioles game

    The Heater

RHP Alex Cobb hates to hear how he "battled through" or "grinded out" a start rather than just dominated, but that's kind of what he did Friday, allowing nine hits and a walk and being charged with two wild pitches but only three runs in earning his 12th win.
