Times to create Terry Tomalin Internship

In honor of the work of longtime outdoors editor Terry Tomalin, the Tampa Bay Times announced Monday that it is creating a paid internship for a college student to join the newsroom and help cover the outdoors, recreation and physical fitness.

The Terry Tomalin Internship will be open to a college junior, senior or graduate student with a demonstrated love of the outdoors and an aptitude for telling stories through words or visuals.

"We seek to honor Terry and his career at the Times in a way that embodies two of his deepest passions — teaching young people and journalism that enlightens us about the joys and realities of our local environment," Times editor Neil Brown said.

The annual internship will last 12 weeks. Details of the application process are still being determined. They will be posted at tampabay.com/internships when available.
