Late interception bails out Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The Patriots needed a last-minute defensive play to bail out a sluggish offense.

Tom Brady threw a touchdown pass, Stephen Gostkowski kicked three field goals and 325-pound tackle Vince Wilfork intercepted a pass near the goal line to end the Raiders' final chance.

That gave the Patriots the ball with 51 seconds left. Wilfork made the interception when Logan Ryan jarred the ball loose from receiver Denarius Moore. On the previous play, Darren McFadden's 6-yard touchdown run was nullified by a holding penalty against guard Gabe Jackson.

"My opinion is that it was not a hold,'' Oakland coach Dennis Allen said.

"Sometimes you got to grind them out," Patriots receiver Julian Edelman said. "An ugly win is better than a pretty loss."

Brady became the third quarterback with 150 regular-season wins behind Brett Favre (186) and Peyton Manning (169).
