Patriots pounce early to go to 8-0
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — A little more than 10 minutes into this game, the score was already lopsided. New England touchdowns: Two. Washington plays from scrimmage: One.
Julian Edelman and LeGarrette Blount had scored by the time the Redskins snapped the ball a second time, and the Patriots cruised to stay unbeaten. Despite a season low in points, unbeaten New England was never threatened.
"We had a good drive early, had an opportunity to get on top and play from ahead," coach Bill Belichick said.
Tom Brady hit Edelman for a touchdown on the opening drive, then New England recovered a surprise onside kick. Even after Edelman's fumble gave the ball to Washington, New England got it right back when Kirk Cousins' pass bounced off receiver Pierre Garcon and was intercepted by cornerback Logan Ryan, setting up Blount's 5-yard score.
