FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork has a torn right Achilles tendon and likely is out for the season, the Boston Globe reported Monday.
Wilfork, a first-team All-Pro last season, was pursuing a play Sunday against the Falcons when he planted his right foot and dropped to the ground. The team did not comment specifically about the injury, but coach Bill Belichick acknowledged, "It doesn't look too good."
"I think he's got a pretty serious injury," Belichick said. "And it's probably unlikely that he'll be able to play again this year."
Wilfork's agent did not respond to requests for comment.
