Pasco sophomore Anthony Plourde advanced to the state cross country meet after taking fifth in the Class 2A-2 meet Saturday in Titusville.
Plourde, who was coming off a win at the district meet, met some of the state's elite. His finish, in 16 minutes, 32.66 seconds, advances him to Saturday's state meet at Little Everglades Ranch in Dade City.
Coach Barry Grayling said Plourde hopes to improve on last year's disappointing 86th-place finish in 17:15.
No other North Suncoast runners or teams advanced.
