Nature Coast signing

Sharks senior soccer player Brittany Allen signed a letter of intent with Converse College, an all-women's school in South Carolina.

Allen scored five goals and had eight assists for the Sharks. Her best performance was during an 8-0 win over Hernando on Dec. 3, when she scored twice and assisted on a pair of goals.

Quote of the day

"I believe we play better away from home. I think when we're away from home, the kids feel their backs are against the wall, they have to play. … We've got to go into somebody else's territory, and we'll play harder and the kids will be ready to stand up to whatever they've got to play."

Pasco baseball coach Ricky Giles, above, whose club travels to Palatka for the best-of-three region finals this weekend. Pasco (25-5) is 10-1 in true road games this season (not counting district and holiday tournaments).
