Spoto forfeits all wins due to ineligible player
After last week's win over Lennard, the Spoto football team was 3-0.
Today, the Spartans are 0-3.
Because it violated Florida High School Athletic Association rules regarding the use of an academically ineligible player, Spoto has been forced to forfeit victories against Newsome, Bloomingdale and Lennard, FHSAA associate executive director Sonny Hester said Wednesday afternoon.
After playing the ineligible player in last week's 46-16 victory against Lennard, Spoto self-reported the violation. At the time it was believed the team would need to forfeit only that game because the player had not seen action in the team's previous outings. But he did dress in those games, and that violated the state's rules.
According to FHSAA bylaw 11.12.1, "a student in athletic uniform during an athletic contest is defined as having participated." After learning this, Spoto turned itself in a second time.
It is not known if Spoto will be fined. An attempt to reach coach Dale Caparaso was unsuccessful.
Tiger lands Big Ten offer
Jesuit tight end/defensive lineman John Plasencia landed one of his biggest scholarship offers when Purdue pulled the trigger. Plasencia (6-foot-5, 240 pounds) said he also has offers from Army, Air Force, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Syracuse and Vanderbilt. He is tentatively scheduled to visit Northwestern on Oct. 17. Boston College and Florida also are showing interest. Plasencia carries a 4.1 GPA and scored a 32 on his ACT.

Where do you get these volleyball statistics from. Measuring Kills, Blocks or anything else per match is inaccurate. Matches could last 3, 4, or 5 games. Leaders should be measured per game as per USA Volleyball guidelines
