Pasco senior Josh Johnson (shoulder injury) went to a local hospital after Friday's 18-17 loss to Nature Coast as a precaution. Pasco coach Tom McHugh confirmed over the weekend Johnson would be ready for Friday's key Class 3A, District 8 game against rival Zephyrhills.

A record for Wynn?
Because Pasco County has no official football record archives, we can't say for certain if Hudson junior Zack Wynn's 448-yard passing effort (in Friday's 39-36 loss to Mitchell) or Adrian "Bubba" Golden's 409-yard rushing performance (in a 52-28 win at Ridgewood) are single-game records. But we're pretty darned sure of it.
According to Florida prep records archivist Buddy Collings, Golden's effort ranks among the top 10 single-game rushing performances in state history. If you go by the Bucs' team statistician, who had Golden at 435, it ranks fourth all-time. And the three ahead of Golden hailed from outside the North Suncoast.
As for Wynn, well, we could think of only one other quarterback who might have posted such a lofty total. And with apologies to the Drew Weatherford loyalists, Wynn's passing numbers exceed the ex-Gator's single-game high. Weatherford topped out at 334 yards in a 27-23 win against Wesley Chapel on Nov. 8, 2002.
Wynn finished 25-for-40 and accounted for a staggering 34 points. In addition to three touchdown passes, he ran for two, was successful on a two-point conversion and kicked two extra points.
Bulls boys shine at flrunners invite
The latest running of the Bulls may have been the most significant of their three-year existence.
Behind the personal bests from sophomores Josh Reilly and John Davis, Wiregrass Ranch's boys cross country team won the small-school division of the prestigious flrunners.com Invitational this past weekend in Titusville.
The Bulls' 73 points were nine better than runnerup Nature Coast. Collectively, the programs put six runners in the division's top 11, led by Bulls sophomore Ryan Pulsifer (16:58.96). Matt Lambert led Nature Coast with a fifth-place overall finish (17:01.77), while teammate Bruce Federico was sixth (17:09.12). Davis (17:11.24) was seventh, with Nature Coast's Tyler Harrison (17:31.86) and Reilly (17:34.11) 10th and 11th, respectively.
The Bulls girls, running with a partial varsity lineup, placed 12th in the small-school division. Sophomore Ariel Grey placed 17th (20:09.06) to lead Wiregrass Ranch.
Drake to miss homecoming
Nature Coast running back Tevin Drake is out this week against Lecanto. The junior suffered multiple injuries to his left thumb, including the loss of the nail and a chipped bone, according to coach Jamie Joyner. Doctors replaced the thumbnail Friday night to help prevent infection.
Drake led Nature Coast to an 18-17 victory over Pasco on Friday with the Sharks' only touchdown and a two-point conversion. He ran 28 times for 112 yards.
Lineman John Carbone will miss his second week with a shoulder injury. Tony Roberts is out with a pulled muscle, and Justin Murray is expected to return.
