The week ahead

Some of the can't-miss events in Pinellas County:

Volleyball, Bay Conference Championship, Northside Christian (13-8) at Bayshore Christian (11-9), 7 tonight: Northside Christian travels across the bay to defend its conference championship. The Mustangs defeated Bradenton Christian in four games last season to earn the Bay Conference title.

Cross country, St. Petersburg City Meet, 5 p.m. Thursday: The meet, held at Crescent Lake Park, brings together the private and public schools in St. Petersburg. Northeast won the boys team title last year and Northside Christian is the defending girls champion.

Volleyball, PCAC championship, Palm Harbor University (18-3) at Lakewood (11-7), 7 p.m. Thursday: Lakewood advanced to the conference title game a year ago before losing to Countryside. PHU is playing in its first PCAC championship.

    ST. PETERSBURG — Jacob Faria allowed his first two big-league home runs and was touched for a career-high three runs Saturday by the Orioles. Other than that, the rookie making his fourth major-league start did okay against the Baltimore bats.

    The bullpen, not so much.
