Late sack helps Ravens escape
MIAMI — The Ravens let Ryan Tannehill slip away once. The next time, he didn't escape.
Elvis Dumervil's sack turned a 52-yard field goal into a 57-yarder that Caleb Sturgis sent wide left with 33 seconds left. The ex-Florida Gator had been 10-for-10 this season.
"I wanted to make sure I got it there," the rookie said. "Unfortunately, I hooked it pretty good."
After Justin Tucker's 44-yard field goal put the Ravens ahead, Tannehill converted a fourth and 10 by escaping pressure and hitting Brandon Gibson for 46 yards. Two plays later, he was sacked for a league-high 24th time.
"It's hard to function offensively when you're going backward," coach Joe Philbin said.
Linebacker Terrell Suggs had three of Baltimore's six sacks.
"My wife told me, 'Bring mama home three sacks,' " he said. "It came down the stretch, and it was time to get going. We weren't perfect. But we made plays we needed to."
