Rays manager Joe Maddon is among those impressed by Yankees OF Ichiro Suzuki surpassing 4,000 career hits between Japan and the majors. "He's going to be in two Hall of Fames, I know that," Maddon said. "His ability to miss defenders is unparalleled. … I've often thought when he was in his prime, he could actually look at a defense and hit the ball somewhere else."
Just (not) like old times
Delmon Young (left) is excited to be back with the Rays, eager for the chance to again play for manager Joe Maddon and executive vice president Andrew Friedman, with whom he has maintained cordial relationships. But as for actual players, only Ben Zobrist was around when Young was a Devil Ray in 2006-07, and they haven't exactly kept in touch. "I think I might have had five different cell (phone) numbers since then," Young said.
