The Rays are looking for some help on the field.

While GM Erik Neander and staff are checking around to add a final few pieces for the roster, the team is looking to hire members of the bat/ball staff for the upcoming season.

Among the duties:

  • Set up and break down on-field pregame activities such as batting practice.
  • Properly clean and store equipment post-game.
  • Assist clubhouse staff with cleaning and laundry responsibilities before and after games.
  • Assist with unloading visiting team equipment at Tropicana Field at night and on weekends.

Here are some of the requirements, with the Rays saying they will give priority to local candidates: High school diploma or GED equivalent, ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, ability to throw and catch a baseball from varying distances, reliable transportation, willingness and availability to work the Rays baseball schedule, passing any background checks or drug screenings mandated. Also, the Rays note they are looking for candidates who offer professionalism, attention to detail, respect.
