ST. PETERSBURG -- Matt Duffy suffered another setback on Wednesday in his attempt to return from a hamstring injury that's kept him out all season.

Duffy, playing in his second game since moving his rehab assignment up to Triple-A Durham, left Wednesday's game at Norfolk in the bottom of the third inning. He was 0-for-2 and grounded out to the pitcher in the top half of the inning.

He left the game because he re-aggravated his hamstring injury, the Rays announced. He will return to St. Petersburg for further evaluation.

Injuries have prevented Duffy from getting on the field all season long. He played in just two spring training games, making just five at bats. He initially began a minor league rehab assignment at the beginning of the month, but the team decided to halt that for a week after two games.

He resumed his rehab assignment on May 13 and played five games at high-A Charlotte before moving up to Durham this week. Duffy played third base and shortstop on the assignment and was making his second straight start in left field on Wednesday before he left the game.

Duffy also missed the entire 2017 season with an Achilles tendon injury that required surgery.
