PITTSBURGH — Sidney Crosby broke the game's final tie and had two assists as the Penguins beat the Stars 6-2 on Thursday.

Jets rookie Patrik Laine, the second overall pick in June's draft, had two goals to lift his season total to 15, a goal behind Sidney Crosby for the NHL lead. … Aleksander Barkov scored 2:04 into overtime to give Florida to a 2-1 win over the host Red Wings and interim coach Tom Rowe his first victory.

Around the league: The players union is expected to reject the NHL's proposal to extend the collective bargaining agreement in exchange for Olympic participation in 2018, ESPN reported.
