Rockies 5, Royals 2

DENVER — Matt McBride hit his first career grand slam and Jorge De La Rosa pitched eight crisp innings, and the Rockies trimmed the Royals' lead to one game over the Tigers in the AL Central. Danny Duffy was cruising along with a 2-1 lead until third baseman Christian Colon's two-out error in the sixth opened the door for a big inning. McBride lined Duffy's fastball into the leftfield bleachers then zipped around the bases. It was his first homer since Sept. 25, 2012.
